So i recently went on a freeware scenery hunt for FSX and i came across some very nice freeware. I will link them bellow. There are many tutorials on installing addon scenery to FSX so i wont explain.
Abu Dhabi International Airport: This FS2004 scenery works perfectly fine if you follow the instructions that work with FSX and add the scenery as you would with standard addon scenery (In the addons scenery menu). The only bugs with this scenery are a blackish floor hovoring above the ground on every gate and the ILS on 13R and 31L does not work.
This version includes new airports or airstrips, new ground mesh, coasts, roads and rivers together with new landclasses, waterclasses and various scenery objects for the following islands: Coetivy, Platte, Darros, Remire, Marie-Louise and Alphonse. The scenery included in the first version i.e. Mahe, Silhouette, North.
The ILS issue is not fixable (As far as i know), but to fix the gate issue, delete the 'ABUDHABIAIRPORT_API.bgl' file from the scenery folder. Great scenery!!
Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Sepang: Again, some FS2004 scenery, but if installed properly will work in FSX. This scenery was very accurate (According to memory from the last time i was there), performs nicely and was easy to install. There are no bugs that i have found and i do enjoy flying to this scenery. Doha, Hamad International Airport: Note: The correct scenery is the top one, you will need both the 'New Doha' file and the 'altitude fix'. This scenery is a very nice re-creation of Doha's new airport.
Replacing the old airport within FSX, you will still need to use the old ICAO (if i remember correctly) for placing yourself at the airport. Overall, great scenery for it's price (Free)! Imaginesim Demos: Strictly, these are not freeware airports, however the demo's are still very nice for a demo. There are some downsides such as boxes advertising the scenery but they do not interrupt the flight majorly.
These are good if you are planning on buying the scenery (like i am) but still good! UK2000 demos: Refer to previous description.
If anyone knows any good, realistic freeware or AFCAD files, do mention bellow! Hope this helps!
Closest thing yet is XPAX. You can watch the live people in the lobby, then going down the jetway, hear them entering the aircraft, and then a view of them seated. It includes flight attendants providing the briefings on the way to the runway. Upon arrival, and during the deplaning, you will see them getting up in their seats and then walking down the jetway into the airport. Best regards, Jim Not in the way GSX works though. ( Animated people on the ramp ect) It does it through video, not actual people in the sim. Download Poser Bvh Files. Disclaimer: No support is offered by the developers of the above pictured add-on.
Orbx has people flow with a few people doing 'things' but that is pretty minimal and specific to their scenery. I'm surprised no one has come up with people boarding/loading plane animations, both on ground with stairs and viewed inside the plane pass cabin areas. Good idea for Ground Services X addon perhaps?? It would be interesting that's for sure.but, the reason is simple, it's complicated, very complicated, linking to jetways, stairs, what size of ramps, jetways & stairs - height, # of steps, 3d people in the space time continuum wow.and who would buy it (what's the market?), how much would you pay for it? I just don't see it taking off so to speak, but perhaps there is some computer genius out there that could build something workable. I know this has been discussed several times both for GSX and AES.
I'm currently using AES for all airports I fly to and I'm keeping my fingers crossed we'll eventually see animated passengers.would be so cool! Might also add speaking about XPax I use both XPax and AES and to me that brings a lot to the overall immersion when flying the NGX online as close to real world OPs as possible. I think XPax although an aged addon by now is a great one!
Not only does it give you the video clips of passengers mentioned above but it will also let you record your own recordings that will be played at certain stages during the flight letting you welcome your virtual passengers etc. And yes.I'm a true FS nerd. And yes.I'm a true FS nerd Didnt know you could get aes at all airports, so it like gsx than you can get it at every fsx airport? Didnt know you could get aes at all airports, so it like gsx than you can get it at every fsx airport? Sorry for being unclear, what I meant was I do all my flying exclusively to airports that have have AES support. I also own GSX but prefer the way AES is 'tailor-made' for each of the airports it supports where everything will work 100% for that reason. To compare GSX and AES and suggest which one to go with I would say if you're the type that like to fly all over the place to any airport probably GSX will suite you better but if you're the type who only or at least mainly fly to a fixed number of airports where you have custom airport scenery installed AES will be your ticket IMHO.
